At our temple there are many events happening on a daily, weekly monthly quarterly and yearly basis. To start with there are the big events which are the solstices and Equinoxes. We have built gates
marking the two solstices and the equinox. We have also built a path from the center of the turtle to all of the above, clearly marking the journey the sun makes during the year.
It is important on a physical and psychological level to be aware of the sun's movement in order to stay in touch with the natural cycles. On a spiritual level during any of the aforementioned events gateways to other levels of consciousness open up.
Other than that we also mark the sun zenith
days, twice a year on march 1 and october 13 the sun is directly above us so a vertical pole casts no shadow. This is the way the ancient cultures like the egyptians found out what latitude they were on. they used to dig deep holes in the ground and look up to see when the sun was directly overhead. These same holes have also been found in many south american cultures. They were aware that the world was round 6000 years before gallileo
Other than that we have various markings like the cross quarter days, halfway between the solstice and the equinox.
We do special meditations on the dark moon and the full moon.
Any eclipses solar or lunar as they can drastically change the earths energy grid. And any other big celestial events.
We also have a celebration in honor of our founder Pak Hardjanto that falls on the Javanese date of rabu pon (see the calendar )which occurs every 35 days.
On a weekly basis we have a group meditation every week day and every monday and thursday we have a fire ceremony for Ganesha the remover of obstacles.
On a daily basis we do our personal sun and water meditation every day
That pretty much sums up what we do around here. Of course it does not describe the process you enter when you start this path which is a whole other story.
